Kirriwirri by Jan Billycan
Liberty Industrial is pleased to be a 12 month major sponsor of FORM Art Organisation. FORM facilitates art, art events and exhibitions in West Australia. They recently held the 2011 Hedland Art Awards at the Courthouse Art Gallery, which Liberty Industrial was proud to be a part of. At the 2011 Hedland Art Awards, Liberty Industrial’s director, Clinton Dick, presented the award for the Best Indigenous Artist. The award went to Jan Billycan for her work, ‘Kirriwirri’. Jan Billycan is a multi-award winning artist who paints with Yulpirija Artists based in Bidyadanga.
The Hedland Art Awards opening night attracted crowds of around 600 people to the Hedland Courthouse Gallery. Several exhibiting artists also attended the event, including representatives of the Yulpirija Artists. The Hedland Art Awards is an annual event which celebrates the creative talents of artists based in the Pilbara, Kimberley, Gascoyne and Mid West regions.
