Newscastle Terminal Project

LOCATIONHamilton, NSW
DURATION8 Weeks
CLIENTViva Energy

Liberty Industrial were engaged by Viva Energy on a single source agreement to demolish the former Shell fuel terminal in Hamilton NSW down to grade level and remove all assets from site. The work had to be carried out around structures of historical significance, various asbestos containing materials and numerous hot spots of hydrocarbon contamination caused by years of fuel movements.

Along the western boundary of the site is a tidal water course known as Styx Creek, the heavy presence of fauna and flora around this water course was also a critical to Liberties approach, any in ground contamination needed to be contained and vigilance was critical throughout so that during the demolition process this wasn’t allowed to unwittingly migrate into the water course.

All the above and below ground tanks were removed safely and ahead of program with the team successful clearing site to the client satisfaction just prior to the 2016 Christmas break.
