As part of Liberty Industrial’s approach to innovation, we continue to strive to develop new systems to make the demolition environment safer and more efficient. One of our latest developments has been the creation of a custom built copper cutting saw. Working closely with our project partners, EA Hire (industry leaders in plant hire), in developing this new technology, large copper blocks (which were previously difficult to downsize for re-smelting), can now be processed efficiently and cost-effectively.

Our client had a number of copper blocks that were too large to re-smelt in their current form. We offered a solution, worked with EA Hire in the design and development of the saw, ran trials on this new technology to perfect the process, then mobilised the plant to site and processed approximately 2000 tonne of copper over a period of four weeks.

We not only cut the blocks into manageable sizes, the cutting tool was also able to capture the copper shavings (swarf) to maximise efficiency and revenue generated. Our client was extremely impressed with both the process and the outcome. It realised substantial revenue for the client, which had previously been inaccessible.

This technology can be adapted for all smelting processes – for example Zinc, Lead, Nickel, Steel etc.
